Born in Sicily, Marcella Trimarchi moves to Milano in 1985 to pursue a degree in Fashion.

In 1989 she is hired by Gianni Versace as a designer, working closely with Gianni until 1997. Tom Ford then brings her into his Team in 1998, prior to honing her skills further for Valentino & Moncler Gamme Rouge working with Alessandra Facchinetti who she meets at Gucci.  In 2012 she moves to New York City and works for Calvin Klein Collection as VP Creative Product Development.

She decides in 2018 to reconnect with her creative side. She was drawn to the bold arrangement of flowers combining her remarkable eye for beauty and her uncanny attention to details now highly refined from her work for Couture collections. Marcella is inspired to explore more enduring ways embody and embolden fresh arrangements, and reinvents herself as The Art Flower Maker, where her ephemeral creations are permanently captured through both photography and sculpture.

During her daily walks in the New York City’s flower district, Marcella discovers the decorative Lilygrass leaves that soon become the center piece of her new design work . The winsome flexibility of the leaves allow her hands to gently bend and twist them in ways reminiscent of silk ribbons or endless curves drawn with an imaginary pencils that frame the flowers in uniquely interesting ways. Her designs are sparse yet elegant, filling spaces around the flower and the thin leaves with grace and lightness. She plays with reflections and shadows, creating an illusion of infinite swirls.

Each and every flower and leaf Marcella designs is painstakingly crafted by hand, capturing the beauty and diversity of the natural world. Each of Marcella’s flower and leaf sculptures are indeed a unique work of art, with exquisitely diverse perspectives from every angle, that capture the attention and enchant the viewer’s eye.
